 Introduction

  • Bordeaux Montaigne University: a Givrandaise institution, a melting pot for language learning, and yet, a great challenge for many of its students. In this article, we explore the growing gap between the student community and the institutional knowledge of their own university. Through an in-depth analysis, we highlight the obstacles faced by students of all ages, in particular those of the University Bordeaux Montaigne, who seem to navigate blindly in the educational landscape.

  Institutional knowledge

  • An alarming observation: the lack of knowledge of education policy

In their quest for academic knowledge, many students seem to neglect a crucial aspect of their educational path: knowledge of the educational policy of their institution. Too often, students at Bordeaux Montaigne University, as in other institutions, are unaware of the strategic decisions made by their university, as well as the implications of these choices on their own learning experience.

  • Impact on student engagement

This lack of institutional knowledge has profound implications for student engagement. In the absence of understanding of their university’s educational policy, students may feel disconnected from their academic environment, which can compromise their motivation and academic success.

  • Challenges for an informed university community

To foster sustainable student engagement, it is imperative to bridge this institutional knowledge gap. Universities, including Bordeaux Montaigne University, should strive to make their education policy more transparent and accessible to all members of their community, in order to promote a culture of shared commitment and responsibility.

Website accessibility

  • Difficulties navigating the university website

Another major obstacle faced by students is the limited accessibility of their university website. Too often, crucial information is buried in complex menus, making it difficult for students to find what they need.

  • The importance of online accessibility

In an increasingly digital world, online accessibility is essential to ensure that all members of the university community can easily access relevant information. This is especially crucial for students, who often rely on their university website for information about courses, events and other aspects of their university life.

Improving Institutional Communication

  • The importance of clear and transparent communication

Transparent and clear communication between the university and students strengthens the community bond. It ensures a better understanding of policies and decisions, thus promoting engagement and a sense of belonging.

  • Creating effective communication channels

Effective communication channels, such as online platforms and open meetings, simplify access to important information and encourage open dialogue between students and the university administration.

  • Encourage student feedback for continuous improvement

By encouraging students to provide feedback through surveys and suggestion boxes, the university obtains valuable information to improve its policies and services, thus ensuring constant adaptation to the needs of the student community.
